More About Kana Challenge: Learn Japanese

Learn Hiragana and Katakana. All 96 Characters. 30 Days.

Kana Challenge is an application that helps users learn the Japanese alphabets, hiragana and katakana, in just 30 days. Unlike other apps that simply show charts and expect users to memorize them, Kana Challenge uses a structured approach to drilling each character until the user can answer 50 questions correctly per lesson. By Day 14, users will have learned all hiragana characters, and by Day 21, they will have learned all katakana characters. This app is not just about learning the alphabet, but also about building a strong foundation in the Japanese language.

What sets Kana Challenge apart from other apps is that it goes beyond just teaching recognition of the characters. In addition to learning over 250 daily-use vocabulary words in kana, users also have the opportunity to train their ears with dual male and female native speaker audio, practice correct pronunciation through native audio shadowing, and develop reading reflexes through speed quiz mode. Once users complete the 30-day program, they can move on to immersion, kanji, or JLPT preparation.

Kana Challenge has a unique approach to teaching the Japanese alphabets. Unlike other apps that completely avoid romaji, Kana Challenge starts off by showing it to users and then gradually removes it as they progress. This allows users to quickly build recognition of the characters without feeling overwhelmed. Additionally, the app has a 50-correct rule, meaning users must answer 50 questions correctly before advancing to the next lesson. This helps build muscle memory and ensures a strong foundation in the characters.

The app is structured and not infinite, with 5 characters to learn per day and a time commitment of 15 to 45 minutes. Users don't have to worry about what to study next, as the app tells them exactly what to do and when. The 30-day path is broken down into four weeks, with each week focusing on a different aspect of the alphabets and vocabulary.

Kana Challenge is suitable for absolute beginners who want a clear starting point and a defined finish line, JLPT N5 students who need to solidify their knowledge of the alphabets, immersion learners who want to read kana before diving into sentence-mining or shadowing, and travelers and fans who want to be able to read signs, menus, and manga without relying on transliteration. By the end of the 30 days, users will have a strong grasp of all 96 kana characters, 250+ words, and real pronunciation practice, setting them up for success in their Japanese language journey. The app is available for free download and users can start Day 1 today. Get ready to Renshuu, Renshuu, Renshuu your way to learning Hiragana and Katakana!
