More About Civil War: Atlanta 1864

May 1864 three Union armies have been assembled by General Sherman for the march into Georgia. The Army of the Cumberland was the largest command by Major General George H. Thomas. The Army of the Tennessee was the second largest commanded by Major General James B. McPherson. Major General John M. Schofield commanded the Army of the Ohio which was the smallest of the assembled armies.

The application, Atlanta 1864, is a historical strategy game that allows players to experience the Civil War battles in and around Atlanta in 1864. The game is set during the time when General Sherman and his Union army were facing off against General Johnston and his outnumbered Confederate army. Despite being outnumbered, Johnston had reinforcements on the way from Mississippi, Mobile, and the Atlantic coast. The first major obstacle for Sherman was the Rocky Face Ridge near Dalton, Georgia. After overcoming this, the next challenge was crossing the Etowah River. By June 18th, Johnston had taken up a strong position at the Kennesaw Mountain Line. However, by early July, Sherman had pushed Johnston back through north Georgia and set his sights on Atlanta. The main objective for Sherman was to capture Atlanta and destroy the railroads and factories in the city. This would not only provide a political boost to President Abraham Lincoln, but also hinder the southern war effort. The game consists of a 7-mission tutorial campaign, played as the Union, and a 4-mission 'Rebel Yell' campaign, covering key events from May 9th to May 15th. Players also have the option to purchase additional campaigns within the game. These include a 5-mission 'Bayonets and Shells' campaign covering events from May 27th to June 20th, a 6-mission 'Yankee Hurrah' campaign covering events from June 20th to July 21st, and a 6-mission 'The Battle of Atlanta' campaign focusing on the actual battle of Atlanta. Aside from the tutorial, all missions can be played as either side, providing players with the opportunity to experience the battles from both perspectives. The game aims to be both original and SEO-oriented, providing an immersive and historically accurate experience for players.
