More About CW Morse practice oscillators

No ads, nags, or in-app purchases. No internet connection required. Fully functional offline Morse code app.

This app is designed for Android devices and allows users to practice sending International Morse code using a straight lever or iambic paddle oscillator. To ensure optimal performance, certain settings on the device should be turned off while using the app. These settings can be found in the Accessibility section of the device's Settings menu and include Tap Duration and Ignore Repeated Touches. It is recommended to use the default settings for the best experience.

The app translates Morse code into Latin letters, Arabic numerals, punctuation, CW prosigns, and special characters in real time as the user practices. The straight lever oscillator allows users to adjust the speed and choose whether to display the Morse code or text. The iambic paddle oscillator offers the option to use a reverse paddle and adjust the CW weight ratio. Users can also choose the sidetone frequency between 400Hz and 800Hz. To switch between DIT and DAH, simply touch and hold both paddles to feel the iambic rhythm.

For those unfamiliar with using an iambic paddle key, the app provides a brief instruction on how to send Morse code using this type of key. Users can also adjust the font size for the CW and text labels by pressing and holding the Clear Code/Text button.

In addition to using the app with the device's touchscreen, users can also connect a real straight key using an easily modified USB mouse. Alternatively, a third-party device such as My-Key-Mouse USB can also be used. This app may be of interest to amateur ham radio operators, CW Morse code enthusiasts, and preppers and survivalists.

For those interested in practicing Japanese Wabun CW Morse code, there is a separate app available. And for more advanced training, KG9E's Koch Morse code trainer apps offer a range of speeds.
