EBLI's 3rd App, Sight Words Made Easy, is designed to help students improve their reading and spelling skills. It focuses on teaching sight words, both regular and irregular high-frequency words, and homophones. This app is intended for those who already have a basic reading foundation and can also be used as a transition for new readers who have completed EBLI's previous apps, Reading Adventures with Booker Series, #1 EBLI Island and #2 EBLI Space.
Sight Words Made Easy maintains the high quality of EBLI's previous apps but is more advanced and suitable for learners of all ages, including adults. The app teaches the accurate reading and spelling of irregular and regular words by sound, which benefits readers of all levels by improving their word reading accuracy, phonics knowledge, and reading speed and comprehension.
EBLI's multi-sensory instruction, through various learning activities and games, helps learners acquire reading skills at a faster pace, improve handwriting, and reduce the habit of guessing sight words while reading.
The app includes introductory activities to EBLI concepts such as the different ways sounds can be spelled and how the same spelling can represent multiple sounds. The main activities in the app are focused on sight words and homophones, with a total of 39 sets in the Foundational level, 41 sets in the Intermediate level, and 33 sets in the Advanced level.
Analytics are available to track student progress, and motivational reinforcement is included with rewards that can be unlocked as students complete activities. The app also includes EBLI activities such as Tap and Say, Say and Write, Dot and Dash, and Identify Words, as well as vocabulary instruction through pictures and sentence dictation and correction.
The skills and concepts taught in EBLI Reading Adventures Sight Words Made Easy include segmenting and blending sounds, phoneme manipulation, correct letter formation through Peterson Handwriting, fluency, writing, homophone instruction, and accurately reading high-frequency words. The app also teaches important concepts such as the structure of words, the direction of reading and writing, and the relationship between letters and sounds.
