This application supports dual-frequency GNSS, which is a technology that allows for more accurate location tracking. It works with various satellite systems, including GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, QZSS, BeiDou/COMPASS, IRNSS/NavIC, and various satellite-based augmentation systems. However, it requires device hardware support and Android 8.0 Oreo or higher.
The "Accuracy" feature in this app allows you to measure the error in your device's position compared to your actual location. This is different from other apps that only show you the estimated accuracy generated by your device. With GPSTest, you can compare the estimated accuracy to the actual accuracy.
The menu options in this app include the ability to inject time and PSDS data, as well as clear all assistance data used for GNSS. There is also a settings option where you can switch between light and dark themes, change map tile type, and adjust GPS update settings.
This app is currently in beta and can be downloaded from the Google Play Store. It is also open-source on Github and has a FAQ page and discussion forum for users. If you are nostalgic for old releases or do not have Google Play Services on your device, you can download old versions from Github. However, in order to see the map on the Map tab, you will need to have Google Play Services installed.
GPSTest is also available on F-Droid, an alternative app store for open-source apps. It is recommended to use original and SEO-oriented descriptions when promoting the app on this platform.
