On the other hand, the Mythic/Fantasy Route takes a more imaginative approach, where Zhuge Liang is controlled by a Demon King and plots against Liu Bei. In this route, players will join Eastern Wu to fight against Cao Cao, and in the end, Cao Cao will triumph and unite the realm. In this ending, players can even recruit the legendary general Guan Yu, who is famed throughout the Three Kingdoms.

Upon closer inspection, the Historical Route can further branch into two outcomes: "Unify and proclaim yourself Emperor" and "Unify without proclaiming yourself Emperor." This adds an extra layer of complexity and decision-making for players, as they must carefully consider the consequences of their actions and the path they choose to take.

The game's main focus is on Cao Cao's journey, which spans the late Han dynasty and the early Three Kingdoms era. Players will encounter a full cast of iconic figures such as Dong Zhuo, Yuan Shao, Yuan Shu, Lü Bu, Liu Bei and his sworn brothers, Zhuge Liang, Zhao Yun, Sun Jian, Sun Ce, Sun Quan, and many more. Each of these characters will stand in Cao Cao's way as he rises to dominate China. However, players will also have the opportunity to recruit talented individuals into Cao Cao's own ranks, including Xiahou Dun, Xiahou Yuan, Xun Yu, Xun You, Sima Yi, Guo Jia, Xu Chu, and Dian Wei.
