LifeLock is an identity theft protection service that offers various plans to help safeguard your personal information. The plans include the LifeLock Identity Alert™ System, which alerts you if your Social Security Number, name, address, or date of birth are used in credit or service applications. Additionally, LifeLock offers Dark Web Monitoring, which continuously monitors the dark web and notifies you if your information is found. In the event that you become a victim of identity theft, LifeLock provides access to US-based ID restoration specialists who will work to restore your identity. The Million Dollar Protection Package is also included in all plans, providing coverage for lawyers and experts up to $1 million, as well as stolen funds and expense reimbursement up to the limits of your plan.
For added protection, the Advantage and Ultimate Plus plans also include easy access to credit scores and reports, as well as Identity Lock, which allows you to lock your TransUnion credit file with a single tap. Transaction Monitoring is also available, which monitors activity in your bank, credit card, and retirement accounts. It's important to note that Norton 360 plans without LifeLock only include dark web monitoring.
In addition to the above features, LifeLock also offers the Identity Advisor plan, which includes dark web monitoring, breach notifications, and merchant resolution management. However, it does not include the Million Dollar Protection Package or additional alert features found in higher-tiered plans.
It's important to remember that no one can prevent all identity theft or cybercrime. If your plan includes credit reports, scores, and/or credit monitoring features, there are two requirements that must be met in order to receive these features. First, your identity must be successfully verified with Equifax. Second, Equifax must be able to locate your credit file and it must contain sufficient credit history information. If these requirements are not met, you will not receive credit features from any bureau. If your plan includes credit features from Experian and/or TransUnion, the same verification process must be completed with those bureaus as well.
The credit scores provided by LifeLock are VantageScore 3.0 credit scores based on data from Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. It's important to note that third parties may use different types of credit scores to assess your creditworthiness. Additionally, LifeLock does not monitor all transactions at all businesses.
Lastly, LifeLock offers reimbursement and expense compensation up to $1 million for Ultimate Plus, up to $100,000 for Advantage, and up to $25,000 for Standard and Select plans. This includes coverage for lawyers and experts if needed. The benefits under the Master Policy are issued and covered by United Specialty Insurance Company (or State National Insurance Company, Inc. for NY State members). It's important to review the policy terms, conditions, and exclusions on LifeLock's website. It's also important to note that locking or unlocking your credit file does not affect your credit score and does not stop all companies and agencies from pulling your credit file. The credit lock on your TransUnion file will be unlocked if your subscription is downgraded or cancelled.
