From Count to King is a medieval strategy game called Medieval Kingdoms where players start as a small count and work their way up to becoming the most powerful and famous ruler in the Middle Ages. As a count, players must manage their county's production of raw materials, unlock new and unique buildings, and shape their kingdom according to their own will. The ultimate goal is to create a thriving empire and conquer new territories, becoming the king of all medieval kingdoms.

In this game, players must also face a devious enemy hiding within their lands. To defeat them, players must recruit a mighty army, conquer great towers, and expand their empire. By freeing the lands from the reign of terror of the marauders, players can expand their empire and teach their enemies fear. The game also offers a multiplayer mode where players can play on a unique and historical map of Europe, discovering real kingdoms of the Middle Ages and immersing themselves in the different regions of Europe.

To survive in both single-player and multiplayer modes, players must conquer the world's most important nodes: the towers. These towers allow players to control territories and kingdoms, and by attacking enemy towers, players can end the domination of other alliances and expand their realm. Conquering towers also unlocks more knowledge and expands a player's power.

Players have the freedom to choose which kingdom they want to conquer, whether it's the county of Hamburg, the republic of Florence, the city of Barcelona, or the kingdom of Essex. Each kingdom offers different bonuses, such as earning more taxes or unlocking trade. Players can also choose to lead an alliance, work as a diplomat, or submit themselves to another lord and pay taxes dutifully.
