Super Smash Bros. Ultimate users can view posted videos, queue up user-created stages for downloading, and receive notifications about upcoming events. Splatoon 2 players can also view detailed results from battles or Salmon Run, as well as check rankings and stage schedules.

The app also allows users to view their online friends and see which games they are currently playing. Friend requests can also be sent directly from the app, although some features, such as adding friends, can only be accessed from the Nintendo Switch system.

One of the main features of the app is the ability to use voice chat during online play. This allows players to communicate with each other while playing supported games. The app automatically syncs the voice-chat status with the game status, and in team-based games like Splatoon 3, players can choose to chat with only their team members.

It is important to note that a Nintendo Account age 13 or older is required to access certain online features, including voice chat and social-networking services. A Nintendo Switch Online membership is also required to use certain features. The app also requires a compatible smartphone and a persistent internet connection, and data charges may apply.
