Our program is designed to teach children different learning strategies in a fun and intuitive way. It consists of 6 games, each focusing on a different learning strategy and teaching one of three sight word lists: Fry, Dolch, and M200. These lists are divided into 22 levels, starting with the most frequently used words and progressing in a similar order to most schools.
This app is ideal for early readers, beginning readers, pre-schools, first years of school, kindergarten kids, and readers who struggle with reading and recalling these words. You can try the first 3 levels for free, which includes 18 games. If you want to unlock the full version, you can do so for the price of a cup of coffee to support us and your child. Alternatively, you can directly purchase the EDU version.
This app has been approved for inclusion in Google Play for Education and is being used in real classrooms with proven success. You can select the sight word list order from Magic 200, Fry high frequency, or Dolch high frequency lists. The 6 games included in the app are fun, challenging, and rewarding, and each one emphasizes a different skill in learning to read. There are 22 levels in total, with progress tracking available. The early levels have only 6 words, gradually increasing to 12 words per level.
All of the games in this app are designed to build fluency and instant recognition, and they do not reward guesses. Progress is determined by accuracy and, in some games, speed. The motivating reward structure and immediate feedback help build confidence through success. The games also provide lots of practice and repetition of the words, and each one emphasizes a different reading strategy to develop essential reading and decoding skills that can be applied to all reading situations.
There are over 300 words included in the app, and once a word list is completed, you can reset the games and choose a different list for more revision. This app was designed by a specialist reading teacher and tested on real children in real classrooms. It features both male and female voices, mixed fonts with different letter shapes, and is completely ad-free with no in-app purchases or additional fees. Support materials, flash cards, tips, and hints are also available on the developer's website.
There are options to progress through the games and levels in a logical order, or all levels can be unlocked so younger children can play the easier games at each level. The music can be turned off, levels can be reset, and words can be presented in upper or lower case. Each of the 6 games encourages the development of reading strategies and skills in a non-threatening manner, and children can apply these techniques to learning other complex and irregular words. The fun and interesting characters in the games give children a reason to continue playing and learning.
The 6 games included in this app are: Peter Puffs, Super Shelly, Crabby Clara, Edgar's Eggs, Wally's Words, and Stella Stars. Each game focuses on a different skill, such as visual discrimination, auditory memory, letter recognition, and more. Through these games, children can improve important memory and learning techniques, including auditory and visual memory, fine motor coordination, following directions, and concentration span. If you have any suggestions for improvement, you can leave a message for the developer at [email protected]. They are always happy to hear about users' experiences and suggestions for their applications and publications.
