More About Rogue Dungeon Boardgame

A dungeon crawler based on our board game. It plays like an old-school roguelike, using hand management, card draw and dice rolling as primary game mechanics. Players will need to figure out how best to use their hero abilities, skills, items, experience and luck to survive.

This application is a loot management game that is centered around the concept of navigating through a dungeon and collecting valuable items. The game starts off with a simple task of using a piece of meat to charm a wolf, which then helps you defeat a zombie. The zombie drops a lockpick, which is used to open a safe where you can find a jeweled goblet. This goblet can then be traded for a lucky shield, which can be used to block the fire of a dragon. The game is challenging and requires skillful play, but experienced players will be able to make it out of the dungeon alive. However, for most players, the end result will likely be getting eaten by a goblin. The goal is to prove the game wrong and survive the dungeon.

Players start by choosing their character, gathering starting loot, selecting skills, and setting their starting stats. They then enter the dungeon and navigate through different rooms using mini maps. The rooms are divided into three types: traders, combat, and traps. Traders offer the option to trade loot or stats for other items, and some trades may involve a stat test or a roll of the die. Combat rooms involve fighting monsters using the player's primary stat and a D10. Damage can be avoided by using armor, skills, or magical items. Potions and food can also be consumed to increase health and prevent death. Some monsters have weaknesses to specific loot, making them easier to defeat. Once a monster is defeated, the player receives loot and XP.

Traps are scattered throughout the dungeon, but players can disarm or bypass them if they have the right equipment. Even if they don't, there is still a chance to avoid damage by passing a strength, agility, or intelligence test. Successful tests result in XP rewards and avoiding damage. Players can also use their luck stat to manipulate rolls, either by modifying the result or allowing for a complete reroll.

The game progresses through five dungeon levels, with a staircase separating each level. Players can rest at the stairs without the risk of being interrupted by a wandering monster. They can also level up their character at any time, as long as they have enough XP. The final room of each level features a boss monster with special abilities that can be activated depending on the player's attack roll. These abilities can range from summoning additional monsters to draining the player's level. The game encourages players to be creative and strategic in their approach to defeating these bosses.
