Will they lead the nation to salvation or ruin? This is the question posed by a new Japanese-style 2D RPG that has taken the top spot in the Google Play Top New Paid Apps in Japan. The game, called Hoshu Washin, is set in a nation ruled by four clans and follows the story of Kenshiro, the ruler-in-waiting of the Totsuki clan. Kenshiro, who would rather chase skirts than train, is forced to take action when his clan is attacked by mysterious beings wearing Oni Masks. With his loyal friend and retainer Tatsuto by his side, Kenshiro sets off on a journey for revenge and justice.
In battle, players can accumulate ESP by performing actions like attacks and deployment changes. This ESP can then be used to unleash powerful special moves known as Clan Specials. Each character has multiple Clan Specials available to them, each with different effects that can turn the tide of battle.
Players can also choose which stats to boost with TP earned from battles and which abilities to augment. The degree to which a stat is boosted will impact the skills (Kiho) that can be learned, so a balanced approach is recommended.
In addition to traditional battles, players can also use Mandara, special panels that can boost stats and abilities, and make deployment changes to gain an advantage in battle. And outside of battle, players can take on quests from the many towns and villages in Hoshu Washin, earning rewards and possibly uncovering more about the game's world.
The game also includes some basic system information, such as the number of save slots and equipment slots, and the fact that in-app purchases are available but not necessary to finish the game. The game is supported on devices with 6.0 and up, and has been optimized for game controllers and enabled for SD card storage. It is available in both English and Japanese, but may not be supported on all devices.
