The game, Illumica, is set in a world where an invasion of the enemy lands of Laft is being planned. The main character, Kline, is an apprentice High Beast Knight who goes undercover in Laft. However, he is not the top of his class.

While in Laft, Kline witnesses a shocking scene of blood-soaked battles between enemy tribes, misuse of darkness energy, and huge monsters called Vasists. In the midst of the chaos, he sees a young girl in danger and impulsively abandons his mission to rescue her.

The game takes place in a time where the Earth is filled with blood and hatred. The characters must fight against their destinies and face a desperate battle against the split of history and the lurking evil.

The game features over 40 hours of gameplay, beautiful 8-bit dot artwork and animated turn-based battles, an innovative Command Palette battle system designed for touch screen interfaces, and the ability to contract Guardian Beasts and High Beasts to gain advantages in battles. There is also a Partona (bonds) system between allies and beasts, subquests to complete, and the ability to obtain new skills with Magic Meteorites and craft ultimate weapons.

While there is in-app-purchase content available for additional fees, it is not necessary to finish the game. The actual price may vary depending on the region.

The game is supported on devices with 6.0 and up operating systems, optimized for game controllers, and enabled for SD card storage. It is available in English and Japanese, but may not be fully supported on non-Japanese devices.
