More About Six Ages: Ride Like the Wind

Life between myths. Clans, cows, choices.

Six Ages is a unique and immersive game that combines interactive storytelling with turn-based strategy. It is the spiritual successor to King of Dragon Pass and is set in the world of Glorantha, where the laws of physics are controlled by the gods and spirits. The survival of your small clan depends on your relationships with these warring deities and their followers. As the leader of your clan, you must make decisions and take actions such as improving pastures, exploring, trading, and raiding in order to ensure your clan's prosperity. You can even travel to the Otherworld to visit your gods and deal with crises ranging from marauding dinosaurs to diplomatic requests and illicit love affairs. Your choices have a significant impact on the politico-economic landscape of the game, and some consequences may not be apparent for decades to come.

Six Ages offers an immense amount of replayability, with over 400 interactive scenes and multiple outcomes. The game is designed to be played in short episodes, and it automatically saves your progress, allowing you to play even when you only have a few minutes to spare. The built-in saga feature writes down the story of your clan as you play, and you will also have advisors with distinct personalities to help you keep track of your cows.

The game has received high praise from various sources, with 148Apps calling it "absolutely worth playing" and praising its unique blend of narrative, lore, and nonbinary decision-making. Touch Arcade describes it as a world full of meticulous details and gameplay that is unlike anything else. Pocket Tactics also commends the game, stating that it holds a wealth of wonders that few other games can match. It has even been listed as one of Rock Paper Shotgun's top 100 PC games of all time, with the publication praising its "curious and gnarled tree" of a story.

Six Ages: Ride Like the Wind is just the first installment in the series, and upon completion, players can continue their clan's saga in Six Ages 2: Lights Going Out. The game is also completely accessible for players using VoiceOver. With its unique blend of storytelling and strategy, Six Ages offers a one-of-a-kind gaming experience that is both addictive and deeply immersive.
