In the Republic of Sordland, players must make critical decisions on security, economy, welfare, and diplomacy. These decisions will not only impact the country but also the player's family and relationships. The goal is to lead Sordland towards one of nine unique major endings and over 25 sub-endings, leaving a lasting legacy. Players must also manage the ongoing recession and work with politicians to pass reforms and amend the constitution.

In the Kingdom of Rizia, players take on the role of the newly crowned King Romus and must navigate through geopolitical challenges and manage new resources such as energy and authority. They must also engage in discussions on religion, family, and romance, and make decisions that will shape the nation's future. The game also features a war mechanic and military build-up, where players must strategically and tactically handle military challenges in a turn-based experience.

The Suzerain Universe offers players different ways to access the game. They can play the entire game for free by watching ads, purchase individual story packs for Sordland and Rizia, or subscribe for ad-free access to both story packs.
