Twin Lakes is a city that is cursed, although not as severely as some other places. It falls somewhere in the middle of the cursed scale, causing enough trouble to be a nuisance but not enough to be completely torn apart. This is where The Darkside Detective comes in, as he is the one who deals with all the strange and paranormal occurrences in the city. His trusty sidekick, Officer Dooley, is usually by his side, but in this new adventure, he has been taken by the Darkside and it's up to the Detective to save him and continue their investigations.
The game is a point-and-click adventure that follows the events of the first Darkside Detective game. The Detective and Officer Dooley will have to solve six new cases, taking them to places like a carnival, a retirement home, and even Ireland. These cases are filled with strange and often paradoxical situations, making for a frighteningly funny experience.
The game features nine unique cases, each with its own twist and turns. It also utilizes pointing and clicking technology, making it easy to navigate through the game. The music is composed by Thomas O'Boyle, a living composer (not undead), adding to the overall atmosphere of the game. The pixel art graphics are photo-realistic (depending on your definition of the term), immersing players in the eerie world of Twin Lakes.
As a bonus, players can also receive a mail-in rebate for exorcism services if they experience any hauntings as a result of playing the game. And for those who haven't played the first Darkside Detective game, there will be a brief recap of the events to catch them up on the story. So join the Detective and Officer Dooley in their quest to keep the Darkside at bay and solve the mysteries of Twin Lakes in this thrilling and humorous adventure game.
