The app also includes important disclosures for users to be aware of. Vanguard funds held in a brokerage account are protected by SIPC, while those held outside of a brokerage account are not. Brokerage assets are held by Vanguard Brokerage Services, a division of Vanguard Marketing Corporation, which is a member of FINRA and SIPC.
