More About Aedict3 Japanese Dictionary

The only Japanese dictionary worth paying for. An off-line english japanese dictionary which uses Jim Breen's JMDict (upgraded EDict)/KanjiDic2/WWWJDIC data along with data from the Tatoeba project. Does not require japanese keyboard. Internet access is used only to download the dictionary - the application itself works offline.

This application, called Aedict, is a powerful tool for anyone learning Japanese. It allows users to search for kanji characters by their parts or radicals, SKIP code, or by drawing the character. It also has an omnibar feature that allows for searching by kana, romaji, and various languages such as English, German, French, and more. The app also has a feature that automatically deinflects verbs, making it easier to search for conjugated forms. However, it should be noted that this app may not work correctly on some Galaxy Tab 3 devices, specifically the 10.1 Tab 3. Users of 7" and 8" Tab tablets have reported that Aedict works correctly for them, so it is recommended to not purchase this app if you own a Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 device.

One of the most useful features of Aedict is its powerful Japanese search capabilities. It supports mixing kana and kanji, and can even automatically prolong vowels to help find the correct word. It also shows proper pitch accents for every word, and has the option to display romaji instead of hiragana or katakana. The app supports multiple romanization systems, including Hepburn, Nihon-Shiki, and Kunrei-Shiki.

In addition to its search features, Aedict also offers JLPT and Joyo quizzes, with support for a simple SRS/Leitner system. Users can also store entries in a notepad and practice them with a notepad quiz. The app also has stroke order diagrams for kanji characters, courtesy of KanjiVG, and allows for kanji drawing practice for JLPT and Joyo quizzes. It also has support for Samsung multi-window, a Japanese Names Dictionary, and shows verb conjugations.

Aedict also offers integration with Dropbox, OwnCloud, and Aedict Online, which is a website dedicated to the app. It also has a Japanese font for proper character display, and includes a Kotowaza sentences dictionary from http://kotowaza.org/. Users can also export entries to AnkiDroid, and have the ability to add custom tags and colors to any dictionary entry.

When updating Aedict, it is important to also update all dictionaries to gain access to new features. The app itself is based on Aedict 2.9, but has a new Android 4 GUI. It is compatible with Android 2.1 and higher. For more information and frequently asked questions, users can visit http://aedict.eu/faq.html.
