The Exercises application is designed to help users practice and improve their knowledge of the Japanese syllabary. It offers two main features: Practice and Quiz. In the Practice mode, users can earn points for each correct answer as they work their way through the syllabary. The Quiz mode challenges users to race against the clock and achieve the fastest time in each configuration.
The syllabary is divided into three categories: Basic, Variants, and Combinations. The Basic category includes 46 foundational characters that serve as the basis for all other characters. The Variants category consists of 25 additional sounds that are created by modifying a subset of the basic characters. The Combinations category includes 33 additional sounds that are created by combining various characters.
There are two input modes available in the Exercises application: Multiple Choice and Keyboard Entry. In the Multiple Choice mode, users must select the correct reading from a group of choices. This mode is helpful for beginners who are still learning the characters. In the Keyboard Entry mode, users must enter the correct reading using an on-screen keyboard. This mode is more challenging and is suitable for users who are more advanced in their knowledge of the syllabary.
The Exercises application is a great tool for anyone looking to improve their understanding and mastery of the Japanese syllabary. With its various categories, input modes, and point system, it offers a fun and interactive way to learn and practice the characters. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced learner, this application has something to offer for everyone.
