Celestrak and SatNOGS have collaborated to create an application that provides access to a vast database of over 9000 active satellites. This database can be searched using either the NORAD Catalog Number or the satellite's name.
The app calculates orbital positions and passes based on the user's location. To ensure accurate data, it is important to set the station position in the app's settings.
The application is developed using Kotlin, Coroutines, Jetpack Compose, and Navigation. It is completely ad-free and open-source, and will always remain so.
The main features of the app include predicting satellite positions and passes for up to 10 days, displaying a list of currently active and upcoming satellite passes, showing the progress of active passes, polar trajectory, and transceiver information, displaying satellite positional data, footprint, and ground track on a map, and allowing for custom TLE satellite data import through Three Line Element .txt files. The app also operates offline, with weekly TLE data updates recommended for optimal performance.
In summary, the Celestrak and SatNOGS app is a powerful tool for accessing and tracking active satellites. With its user-friendly interface and advanced features, it provides a comprehensive and reliable source of satellite data. And with its ad-free and open-source nature, it is a trustworthy and accessible resource for all users.
