One of the key features of Device Protection+ is its cybersecurity by Avast, which helps to block malware-infected links and fake websites commonly used in phishing attacks. The app also includes a Coverage Dashboard where users can view program features and benefits, check service fees and deductibles, review coverage documents, and file and track claims. Additionally, users can receive live tech support from professionals through chat, call, screen share, or camera share, making it easier to troubleshoot any technical issues.

The app also has a Self-Help Center with thousands of device-specific tips, tricks, and step-by-step quick fixes, providing users with a comprehensive resource for managing their devices. One of the core functionalities of Device Protection+ is its secure backup feature, which allows users to back up SMS and MMS messages and call logs on their phone. To ensure proper handling of messages received while the app is the default messaging app, it requires read and receive SMS and MMS permissions.

Device Protection+ also requires permissions to read and write call logs, as well as to read, modify, or delete the contents of the USB storage for backing up and restoring photos, media, and files. The app also requires location permission to access Wi-Fi network details and detect insecure Wi-Fi settings. Additionally, it may require accessibility permission for the Web Shield feature, which protects users from threats on the web by alerting them when they visit a malicious website. However, personal or sensitive data is not collected or stored. In some cases, the app may also require device administrator permission for device lock functionality, but only with the user's real-time consent in the case of a stolen device.
